Art Work and Gardens of Marion Mackay.

I was born in Montreal, Canada - studied and later taught art at The Montreal Museum School of Art & Design.  I now live Colorado, where I continued with my art work, large geometric paintings, pen & ink drawings and mixed medium sculptures and most recently, photo collages.

My work has been shown at The Montreal Museum of Fine Art - Stable Gallery, The Fifteenth Street Gallery in Denver, Colorado and The Anderson Ranch Art Center in Aspen, Colorado.

In 1981, I designed and built my own home and studio, on a beautiful piece of land in the foothills near Boulder, Colorado.  After my son, Adam, and I moved into the house I became involved in studying architecture and have been designing homes, creating gardens and artwork in Colorado ever since.

Homes I have designed can be seen at

THE KORYAK COLLECTION

The Koryak Collection is a series of photo collages created as illustrations for the book called "The Raven's Gift",  by Jon Turk. The book will be published in February 2010.  These collages are available as cards.

Jon and his traveling companion, Misha, kayaked along the Pacific coast of Siberia from Japan to Alaska.  On the way they were forced to shore by a violent storm and were befriended by the Koryak people who lived there. The people in the collages are all part of the story. They are descendants of an ancient lineage of native reindeer herders and shamans. While Jon was with them, Moolynaut, their venerated shaman, offered to help him to heal from an old avalanche injury that had broken his pelvis.

Jon returned several times to visit with these people, study their spirituality and travel across their tundra world.  The book is a beautiful recounting of people from vastly different cultures coming to know and value each other and of a powerful healing experience.
